Courtney McQueen has a B.S. in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College in California and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Princeton University. Her research involves understanding how disease-causing bacteria steal iron from the human body. Courtney joined the Light Knowledge Resources team as a writer and managing editor in May 2009. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, watching Mythbusters, cooking, and spending time with her family and two cats.

The 10th International Symposium on Myelodysplastic Syndromes, held May 6-9 in Patras, Greece, brought  MDS doctors and scientists together from around the world to discuss new discoveries and treatment options for myelodysplastic syndromes.

The three-day symposium, sponsored by the MDS Foundation, featured over 40 speakers throughout nine sessions on various topics. Case studies of specific MDS patients, poster sessions, and nursing education programs were also presented.

A new report from Decision Resources finds that the success of drugs Vidaza (azacitidine) and Revlimid (lenalidomide) in the U.S. market has encouraged pharmaceutical companies to devote more resources to drug development for myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).
