Look into presentation Nr. 1 (scroll down to the bottom of the abstract page: In slide 7 a study-quantity of 30 ml of juice 2 - 3 times a day is indicated. But this is no pure juice (in aqueous solution). 30 ml are produced from 5 grams of fresh wheat grass.

Dear Michelle,

The abstract for the study says the following:

The fresh leaves of 5-7-day-old wheat grass, including stems, were made into fresh juice. 30 mL of juice were given daily continuously for 6 months.

Ihave recently descovered the iorn chelation properities of wheat grass. I have commenced a pt on wheat grass for iorn overload (MDS pt) I am just enquiring what doesage is required to be administered for best results? If Icould be advised on the above I would be very grateful.
kind regards

Finally i found the studies:

1. The Role of Iron Chelation Activity of Wheat Grass Juice in Blood Transfusion Requirement of Intermediate Thalassaemia, 2007.

http://abstracts.hematologylibrary.org/cgi/content/abstract/110/11/3829
Wheat grass could be an effetive alternative to transfusions

2. Soma Mukhopadhyay, PhD in her presentation of the study in this article gives more informations

Here you find the slides

"This trial followed a study with 200 intermediate thalassemia, or major chronic anemia, patients in which 80 percent who drank wheat grass juice became transfusion-independent."

Where can i read/get this study?

"In a dose-dependent comparison with deferoxamine (Desferal), a standard iron chelator, soluble wheat grass extract, collected from five to seven day old leaves, showed more effective iron chelating ability."

Is this another study, and if yes: Would it be possible to get it?

Thank you, M. Aulehla
