Addition Of Trisenox To Cytarabine Provides Little Benefit To Patients With Higher-Risk Myelodysplastic Syndromes

Trisenox, in combination with low-dose cytarabine, may not provide significant benefit to patients with higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes, according to a recently-published study.

Trisenox (arsenic trioxide), which has been approved for the treatment for acute promyelocytic leukemia, is also being studied for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (see related Beacon news).

Trisenox May Be Effective In MDS (ASH 2009)

Trisenox (arsenic trioxide) may have some efficacy in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), according to a Phase 2 study conducted by Italian researchers.

The findings were presented at the 51st annual American Society of Hematology (ASH) Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans on December 8.
